Bioinformatics Product Mgr [SF] total comp $120-$140K
Do you have industrial experience as a Product Manager for Bioinformatics?
Do you understand the software tools used in genetic studies of complete genomic data?
Do you like to work with customers to understand the variety of needs in genomic studies?
We are searching for a Product Manager of Bioinformatics for a genomic company in the
Bay Area. This person will develop, refine and communicate the bioinformatics/tools
strategy, plans and specifications based on first-hand knowledge of the market and
customer requirements. This person will interface with R&D to translate and prioritize
customer requirements into specific bioinformatics software requirements. In addition, it
will be important to identify and support key third-party software providers to extend the
reach and value of the company's data. Establishing relationships with key customers,
global sales and all internal stakeholders will be critical.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 3 yrs bioinformatics experience preferably in product management
* PhD in computer science, molecular biology, genetics or related degree is preferred.
Equivalent experience accepted for candidates, BS degree is minimum requirement
* Understanding of software tools used in genetic studies is crucial
* Ability to communicate and discuss technical information on genetic studies, sequence
analysis, sequencing applications, etc.
* Specific experience and understanding of software requirements for genomic data
presentation, search, query and analysis tools as well as statistical analysis
* Proficiency in developing applications in high-level (Java, C++, C#) and scripting (Perl,
Python, Ruby) programming languages to accomplish bioinformatics tasks.
* Proven proficiency in common statistical and data mining techniques used in analyzing
biological data
* Track record in the successful oversight of new products from planning to launch
Salary is $120-$140K
Location is San Francisco Bay Area, 20% travel required
